For the month of September we are featuring author and fine artist Nichole Wentworth from Sioux Falls, SD. I first met Nichole at our church in Tea where she was teaching a painting class. She is such a sweet and kind person! When I heard she released her first novel, I wanted to feature her work in our shop.
We will carry paperback copies of Nichole's novel "An Alliance of Royal Deception" through the month of September. This story is considered new adult fantasy and is the first in the servant queen book series that she is currently writing. In addition to her novel, Nichole created jewelry and artwork that was inspired by the book. Stop in to see Nichole's work and show her your support!
If you'd like to meet Nichole and have her sign a copy of the book, we will be hosting a meet & greet reception on Sunday, September 13th at 2:00 pm. Also, Nichole will be teaching two painting classes at DART Studio on Saturday, October 10th. A children's class will begin at 10:00 am and they will be making a "Happy Pumpkin" canvas painting. The adult class will begin at 1:00 pm and the painting will be "Fall Walk in the Woods." Watch our Facebook Event Page for more details and to register!
Each month I ask our featured artist a few questions to get to know them better. Let's learn more about Nichole!
1. How long have you been painting and creating art?
I have been passionate about art my whole life but have been more serious about pursing it and dedicating time to the craft the past couple of years.
2. Tell us more about your novel.
This is a story about a woman who is a pawn in a king's game. Her choice to forge her own path under the veil of secrecy may lead to her paying the ultimate price. It is a fantasy tale of adventure, love and deceit.
3. What inspired you to write this book?
I have always wanted to write a book. One day an idea hit me. I went to my two best friends' apartment one night, threw open the door and announced my idea for a story. We spent the rest of the evening writing down the general plot and allowing it to become real. It felt as though we opened the window to another world as if the story was always there just waiting to be typed out.
4. What is your favorite aspect of creating art?
Expressing emotion in physical and tangible form. I love how art brings people together in unity.
You may purchase "An Alliance of Royal Deception" for $12 at DART Boutique (615 E. Brian St., Tea, SD). Follow Nichole's Instagram pages: @servantqueenbookseries or @n.l.wentworth for updates on the next book in her series. She is also willing to create custom art pieces if you'd like to reach out to her.
